[Date is Tentative] The Science Runway Discovery Day is a virtual half-day mentorship, education, and inspirational program specifically designed for young women and girls interested in STEM and healthcare careers. The program is designed to provide approximately 300 girls from underrepresented backgrounds and underserved communities around Chicagoland with the latest insights and mentorship opportunities to pursue their passion for STEM and healthcare. The program will highlight the multitude of career options available in these fields beyond a clinical setting. It will feature organizational profiles where female leaders at different healthcare and science companies will discuss and highlight their specific organizations and roles. The program will also feature skills workshops on topics such as resume building and interview skills and a speed networking section where young girls will have the opportunity to interact with various female healthcare executives and mentors. Next, the program will feature a panel discussion that focuses on pursuing a STEM/healthcare career. Finally, the program will conclude with a keynote discussion featuring a renowned female healthcare leader who will talk about her journey to serve as a source of inspiration for these young women and reiterate the day’s goal of inspiring girls to continue their STEM studies and enter healthcare/STEM careers.
